Erlang Shen is a Deity — a stern, lance-wielding enforcer of cosmic order, often portrayed with a single, truth-seeing third eye Set into his brow and a faithful celestial dog at his side. Presence announces itself with the sharp, metallic tang of iron and incense, the faint earthiness of river-silt where floods have been stilled; sound is the steady clip of horse hooves, the dry ring of armor and temple gongs, and the low, piercing bark of a supernatural hound. Temperature reads cool and clear, like mountain air at dawn, then snap-heats to a tight, righteous warmth when justice is enacted.
