Naga Tasik Chini

Naga Tasik Chini is a Deity — the lake's ancient water-serpent and guardian. In field terms it announces itself as a slow, liquid presence: the air around it carries a peat-iron scent, like wet leaves pressed into old soil; sound manifests as a low, resonant throat-note or the hollow drum of submerged timber rather than sharp splashes; temperature falls several degrees, bringing a damp, clammy cool that beads on skin and condenses into a thin blue-green mist that clings to reeds. Close observation finds no ordinary wake: patterns in the lily pads and the fish schooling beneath the surface rearrange as if guided by a careful, deliberate intelligence rather than chance.
