Raktha Kanda is a Monster — a large, sinewed predator said to prowl the red-misted groves. A field naturalist encountering one notes a strange, metallic tang to the air, like iron warmed in sunlight; the undergrowth grows unnaturally still and warm where it passes. Sound is low and deliberate: a distant, resonant clicking—stones struck together—followed by the soft, heavy percussion of its step. Temperature rises near its flank, the surrounding air feeling dryer and hotter, as if the creature carries summer close to its skin. Its gait is slow and purposeful, limbs built for power rather than speed; fur is matted with resinous sap and the creature often leaves deep, three-knuckled impressions in the loam, accompanied by crushed crimson lichen rather than scattered leaves.
