The Batibat was a rotund, vengeful demon from folklore who lived in old trees. When her tree was cut down, she lingered in the wood. Tonight, she wanted revenge. She floated upwards, seeking a massive presence she sensed hovering above the world. Nightmare Drain.
She prepared to sit on the chest of this massive sleeper to induce suffocation. Chestbound Embrace.
But the presence was Ranginui, the Sky Father, a celestial titan of air, wind, and stars.
The Batibat tried to sit on the sky.
"You are annoying," Ranginui's voice rumbled like distant thunder.
The spirit found neither a solid chest to crush nor breath to steal. She simply flailed in the thin, icy air of the stratosphere, completely unable to enact her dark magic on an entity made of atmosphere.
Ranginui, annoyed by the pest, darkened the clouds. Celestial Thunder.
A sudden, intense blast of lightning struck down perfectly on the floating demon. The Batibat shrieked as millions of volts tore through her phantom form. She was instantly vaporized, scattered to the winds as a harmless, dissipating mist.
Ranginui sighed, a soft breeze moving across the earth, and returned to his peaceful watch over the world below.
