The Kumiho stepped from the shadows of the Iron Mountain. She wore the face of a weeping princess, her hanbok torn just enough to be alluring. Seductive Nine-Tailed Guise. She saw the withered old man on the throne.
"My lord," she purred, approaching him. "I am cold. Let me warm you." She reached for his chest, intending to rip out his liver.
Koschei the Deathless didn't even stand up. He grabbed her wrist with a hand like cold iron.
"You are looking for a heart," Koschei rasped. "I don't keep it here. It's in a duck. In a hare. In a chest. On an island."
The Collector
The Kumiho hissed, dropping the disguise. Her nine tails flared. Yeowoo Bead Manifestation. She fired a blast of spirit fox-fire at his face.
Koschei absorbed the blast. He didn't blink. Needle-Soul Anchoring. You cannot kill a man whose mortality is off-site.
"You are vivid," Koschei observed. "I collect vivid things."
He raised his hand. Princess-Binding Enchantment.
Chains of magical ice erupted from the floor. They weren't meant for foxes; they were meant for royalty, but they worked all the same. The Kumiho was bound, muzzle to tail. Koschei dragged the hissing, spitting spirit toward his dungeon. "You will make a fine scarf," he muttered.
