Analysis: Langsuir

Langsuir is defined by primal, lethal instinct. They seek to close the distance immediately, turning the battle into a chaotic struggle where their ferocity gives them the edge.

Analysis: Mae Nak

Battle Chronicle & Lore Analysis

The Langsuir, a Malaysian vampire-ghost appearing as a women with owl wings, perched on the roof of the stilt house. She smelled a baby. Cradle Wail. She opened her mouth and let out a shriek designed to cause sickness and death in infants.

Inside the house, Mae Nak rocked her phantom child. She heard the shriek. She stopped rocking.

The Langsuir prepared to dive through the window. "Mine," she hissed.

Then, she saw a hand coming out of the window.

The Long Arm

The hand didn't stop. It stretched. Phra Khanong Reach.

The arm of Mae Nak elongated like rubber, shooting ten, twenty feet into the air. The pale hand wrapped around the Langsuir's throat mid-dive.

The Langsuir clawed at the arm, talon against ectoplasm. But Mae Nak was fueled by the rage of a mother protecting her child. The grip was unbreakable.

Mae Nak pulled.

She dragged the shrieking Langsuir out of the sky, down through the roof tiles, and into the dark interior of the house. The screaming stopped abruptly. Mae Nak returned to rocking her child, her arm back to normal length, while a pile of owl feathers slowly dissolved on the floorboards.
