The Nasnas hopped angrily along the Rhone riverbank. It was a demon split down the middle—one arm, one leg, one eye, half a heart. One-Legged Launch. It hated everything that was whole.
It saw the Tarasque sleeping in the mud. The beast was a glorious mess: lion head, ox body, bear legs, turtle shell, scorpion tail.
"Too many parts!" the Nasnas screeched.
The Bounce
The Nasnas leaped, swinging its half-club. It aimed for the beast's eye.
The Tarasque sensed the movement. It tucked its head and limbs inside its shell. Impenetrable Carapace.
THWACK.
The Nasnas hit the spiked shell. The club shattered. The demon bounced off, landing awkwardly on its single foot.
The Roll
The Tarasque grunted. It was heavy, armored, and cranky. It decided to shift its weight.
Carriage-Crushing Mass.
The six-legged dragon rolled over.
The Nasnas tried to hop away, but a one-legged hop is not the most agile maneuver. The massive, spiked shell rolled over the demon like a steamroller paving a road.
There was a squelch. The Tarasque finished its roll, stretched its legs, and went back to sleep. The Nasnas was now a permanent part of the French landscape.
