Nidhogg gnawed at the root of Yggdrasil. Corpse-Hunger. The dragon was decay incarnate, a massive serpent that would one day eat the world.
A peach pit hit him on the head.
Nidhogg looked up. Perched on a root was a monkey in golden armor.
"You have terrible table manners," Sun Wukong chirped.
The Indigestible Meal
Nidhogg roared, a sound that shook the nine realms. He lunged, snapping his jaws around the monkey. World-Venom Breath. He intended to dissolve the pest with acid.
Sun Wukong yawned. Seventy-Two Earthly Transformations.
He transformed his body into celestial diamond. The acid slid off him like water off a duck. He sat inside the dragon’s mouth, picking his teeth.
"Is that mint?" Wukong asked. "No, definitely rot."
The Big Stick
Wukong expanded, propping the dragon's jaws open. He leaped out.
He reached into his ear and pulled out a needle. "Grow!"
Ruyi Jingu Bang.
The staff expanded into a pillar of iron weighing 17,500 pounds. Wukong spun it, creating a whirlwind. He smacked Nidhogg on the nose.
BONK.
The dragon’s eyes crossed. Wukong hit him again. And again. He treated the cosmic horror like a piñata. Bruised, battered, and humiliated, Nidhogg slithered back into the dark depths, deciding to wait for Ragnarok before he tried that again.
