Sobek thrashed in the river, mud flying. "I am the hunger of the Nile! I eat kings!" He summoned a Crocodile Host to swarm the banks.
Osiris stood on the western shore, wrapped in white linen, his skin green with rebirth. He held the crook and flail.
"You eat flesh," Osiris said softly. "I rule what remains."
The Judgment
Sobek lunged, jaws snapping, using Pharaonic Endowment to bolster his strength. He was a force of nature.
Osiris did not raise a weapon. He raised his eyes. Sovereignty of the Duat.
The spiritual weight of the afterlife descended on Sobek. The crocodile god felt the chill of the tomb deep in his cold blood. He remembered that he, too, was subject to the cycles of death.
"Heel," Osiris commanded.
The Crocodile Host froze, then bowed. Sobek's rage drained away, replaced by the instinctual submission of the living to the inevitable dead.
Sobek sank back into the river, leaving the surface calm for the King of the Afterlife.
