The Patasola hopped through the Colombian rainforest, leaving a trail of broken branches. She was a one-legged vampire spirit, driven by eternal rage. Forest Wail. She shrieked, a sound that made jaguars hide.
Shahmaran, the Queen of Serpents from Anatolia, glided from behind a waterfall. She was half-woman, half-snake, and wholly composed.
"Your anger is boring," Shahmaran noted.
The Attack
The Patasola saw the beautiful woman. She hissed, shifting her form. Widow's Guise. She lunged, fangs bared, intending to tear out the throat of the intruder.
Shahmaran didn't flinch. She simply moved. Queen's Coil.
Her serpentine tail lashed out, faster than the eye could follow. It wrapped around the Patasola mid-air.
The Wisdom
The Patasola thrashed, screaming insults. She called upon the jungle to aid her, but the jungle respected the Serpent Queen more.
Shahmaran tightened her grip. Not to crush, but to contain. She brought her face close to the vampire spirit.
Venom of Wisdom.
She didn't bite. She exhaled a mist of golden pheromones. "Listen," she whispered. "Pain is a choice."
She whispered a secret of the earth into the Patasola's ear. The spirit's eyes went wide. The rage drained away, replaced by a sudden, confusing clarity. Shahmaran released her coil. The Patasola, now quiet and contemplative, hopped away into the trees, deciding to rethink her life choices.
