The Thunderbird shrieked, a sound that cracked boulders. Wing-Thunder. Storm clouds gathered, turning the sky black. It hurled a Lightning Javelin straight at the giant's chest.
Surtr laughed. It sounded like a mountain collapsing. He caught the lightning in his bare hand.
"A spark," Surtr grumbled. "But I am the Inferno."
The Final Burn
Surtr drew his blade. Sword of World's Fire. The air didn't just get hot; it ignited.
The Thunderbird flapped harder, trying to summon a Storm-Summons to douse the giant. But the heat rose so fast that the rain evaporated before it hit the ground. The clouds boiled away.
Surtr swung the sword. Múspell's March. A wave of fire miles high swept the sky.
The Thunderbird, realized too late that it was fighting an extinction event, attempted to flee to the upper atmosphere. But the fire was faster. The sky turned red, and the bird fell as ash.
