AngolaTwo-facedHyenaPredatorFolklore

Lore

Kishi is a Monster (Demon) known for its uncanny duality: a beguiling human face up front and a hyena-like maw seated at the back of the head. Field notes record a confusing sensory mix — the warm, steady pulse of a human body under a tailored garment, yet threaded through with the sour tang of carrion and a damp, animal musk. Vocal cues are striking: a smooth, cultured voice that can slide mid-sentence into a wet, chittering rattle. Temperature readings near the front register as warm and muscular, while a chill drafts outward from the rear maw, as if the creature carries two natures in one frame.

Field Notes

Observations
  • A voice that flips from polished speech to a wet chitter in the same breath; charm that masks an odd, shifting shadow at the neck.
Encounter Advice
  • avoidance: Travel in company and avoid isolated nights; decline unexpected invitations from strangers who grow oddly insistent about private walks. Do not let a new acquaintance stand behind you or touch the back of your head; maintain clear sight lines and light.
  • defense: Keep a light or fire between you and the creature and call for help — light disorients its rear maw. Use reflective surfaces (mirrors, polished metal) to reveal the back of the head from a safe distance; if threatened, create distance and bring others to bear rather than attempting lone confrontation. Loud, coordinated alarms and sustained light are the safest deterrents.

Abilities

  • Two-Faced Seduction
Projects a flawless human visage and irresistible charm to lure lone women into private company.
  • Rear-Jaw Devour
The hyena face on the back of its head unhinges to silently seize and shred victims from behind.
  • Hyena-Laughter Dread
Releases a chilling, hyena-like laugh that sows paralysis, fear, or disorientation in nearby prey.

Weaknesses

  • Exposed Rear Face
If any witness glimpses the hyena mouth at the back of its head the human façade collapses and its influence breaks.
  • Denied Intimacy
When refused companionship or entry to a victim's private quarters it cannot feed and will withdraw.
