Mimih

Lore
Mimih is a slender Fae often described in the context of rock-shelters and escarpments: reed-thin, almost two-dimensional figures said to slip into the narrowest stone fissures. Field notes consistently record an atmosphere rather than a clear sighting — a persistent dust of ochre and old smoke in the air, a cold, concentrated draft that issues from crevices, and a high, windlike whisper or chittering laugh as the primary acoustic signatures. When present the rock feels slightly cooler under the hand and the light along a ledge seems to catch on impossibly fine scratches and tiny paint smears left by unseen fingers.

Field Notes
Observations
- Hairline scratches and near-invisible footprints on shelter walls, fresh ochre smudges at the mouth of a crevice, and a localized cool draught emanating from fissures.
Encounter Advice
- mischief: Mimih delight in mimicry and small rearrangements: they hide or tuck away small tools and tunics into tiny holes, imitate voices to confuse trackers, and alter ochre patterns on rock art. Their tricks are rule-bound — more nuisance and bewilderment than outright malice — but they can cause accidents if handled roughly.
- interaction: Approach with quiet respect. Give space to crevices and avoid probing with bright lights or cameras. Communicate with soft song or a gentle carved gesture; return or leave small painted marks rather than removing what they have left. Do not attempt to capture or forcibly extract a Mimih — they are fragile and their mischief escalates when provoked.
- offering: A small smear of ochre or a simple painted motif on the rock near the crevice; a quiet song or dance that echoes the shelter's patterns.
Abilities
- Fissure-SlipCollapses into a razor-thin form to slide through rock fissures and travel unseen or evade physical harm.
- Whispered Hunting LoreImparts ancestral hunting techniques and rock-painting knowledge to receptive humans through whispered song, temporarily heightening skill and intuition.
- Mimi Wind-SongIssues a high, windlike call from crevices that can mesmerize small animals or lure wayward travelers deeper into rock shelters.
Weaknesses
- Fragile FrameExtremely thin bodies are vulnerable to crushing or blunt force—modest pressure can maim or kill them.
- Shelter DesecrationDestruction of their rock shelters or rock paintings severs their place-bound power and greatly weakens them.
- Fire ExposureSustained fires inside rock shelters drive them out and can destroy their habitat, dispersing or killing individuals.
