Ikuchi

Ikuchi is a Cryptid sea serpent reported along coastal Japan — a long, sinuous mass that glides over hulls and leaves a slow, clinging trail. In the field it announces itself by smell, sound, and temperature: Smell — a sharp, oily tang mixed with brine and old tar; Sound — a prolonged, wet dragging like rope running through water and the soft, intermittent patter of heavy beads falling onto timber; Temperature — strangely warm and clammy to the touch, as if the creature carries the slow heat of muscle beneath slick skin. Recorded encounters read like navigation notes: a ship rendered sluggish by sticky residue, hands slick with dark film, and night watches haunted by a distant, drawing cadence.
