Langsuyar

Langsuyar is a vampiric spirit often seen as the gaunt silhouette of a woman with long, unbound hair that ripples like waterweed. Field notes describe her presence as an absence made visible: the air grows thin and damp, shadows lengthen oddly, and the landscape takes on the hush of a room emptied too soon. Smell: a sour-sweet tang of faded frangipani and a metallic undertone, as if old coins and stale iron have been left to the night. Sound: a keening, wavering cry that can mimic a mother’s lament or slip into a high, piercing laugh; sometimes a soft rustle like cloth dragged over floorboards. Temperature: the space around her is bone-deep cold, a damp chill that clings to skin and slows breath. Observations most frequent near isolated dwellings, riverbanks, and sites of untimely childbirth.
